In 1917, the farmers were protesting against being forced to grow indigo. The farmers with the help of a non violent protest by Gandhiji they were able to get their demands agreed.
Kheda was a village in Gujarat that was hit by floods. Gandhi began a campaign where peasants pledged non-payment of taxes. This protest helped in the relaxation of taxes.
Under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, the movement was launched against the British government to restore the collapsing status of the Caliph in Turkey.
Opposing Rowlatt act
Rowlatt act gave the Viceroy the right to control the press, to arrest politicians any time and to arrest anyone without warrant. Gandhiji led the whole country to protest against it.
Non cooperation movement
Jallianwala Bagh was the reason for the non cooperation movement. He called on people to boycott British-made goods and to protest peacefully against government.
In 1930, Mahatma Gandhi decided to create a salt march to protest the high salt tax. he went to Dandi from ahmedabad. Over 60,000 people were arrested by the British.
Mahatma Gandhi started the anti-untouchability movement from 8 May 1933 in protest against the spread of untouchability in the country.
Quit India movement
Mahatma Gandhi started the Quit India Movement in 1942 at the Bombay session of the All India Congress Committee. Due to this movement, the British were forced to leave India.
