Who was Shivaram Rajguru?
He was a great Indian freedom fighter whose real name was Hari Shivaram Rajguru. Rajguru was born on 24th August 1908 in a village known as Khed, Pune.
At the age of 15 started to revolt against British Empire
At the age of about 15, he went to Varanasi and took admission to a school for Sanskrit where he found his fellow revolutionaries.
Wanted to Gain Freedom from British Raj
He joined the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army. The main aim was to overthrow the British colonisers.
Bhagat Singh- Sukhdev- Rajguru was a trio
He became an associate of Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev and took part in the assassination of British Police officer J.P Saunders at Lahore in 1928.
Avenged the Death of Lala Lajpat Rai
Their actions of killing the British officer were to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai who had died in a protest against the Simon Commission in October 1928.
Execution By Hanging
3 brave revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged on 23 March, 1931. Their bodies were cremated on the banks of the River Sutlej. He was only 23 years old when he became a martyr.
