What’s menopause?

A year without a menstrual cycle is considered the start of menopause. Although the age at which you first encounter it can vary, it usually happens in your late 40s or early 50s.

Hot Flashes

Your body temperature will probably increase as a hot flash occurs. Your upper half of your body has hot flashes, which can cause your skin to become blotchy or turn red.

Weight Gain

Changes in your hormone levels may cause you to gain weight. However, aging can also contribute to weight gain.

Bone Health

Your bones' calcium content may change if your oestrogen levels drop. Osteoporosis may result from this because it might result in major declines in bone density.

Endocrine Society

Lowered estrogen during menopause causes the vaginal tissues to become thinner and more easily irritated during sex—or dry out. This can lead to an increase in urinary tract infections.
