100 Pakistani refugees got Indian citizenship in Jodhpur, Ministry of Home affairs issues notification

The dream of Indian citizenship has come true for many Pakistani immigrants who came to India from Pakistan. They had applied for Indian citizenship. District Collector Himanshu Gupta while giving citizenships said “We want to do the work of giving citizenship in the form of a campaign. The Chief Minister also reviewed it and said that citizenship will be given soon. If we need some clarification in the rules, we will ask for it by sending a proposal to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.” 

Notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs

In a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding citizenship, the MHA states that "In exercise of the powers conferred by section 16 of the Citizenship Act, 1955, the Central Government hereby directs the powers to be exercised in its behalf for registration as citizens of India."

“The application or registration of citizenship under section 5 of the Act also relates to persons belonging to Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, and Parsi communities who have migrated to India from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Thereafter a certificate of citizenship may be granted subject to fulfillment of the conditions required under section 6 of the Citizenship Act, 1955."
