A 250-year-old tree fell in a Chandigarh school, a student died, CM Mann expressed grief

A major accident has occurred due to falling of trees in Carmel Convent School, Sector-9, Chandigarh. Many children were injured by falling trees. It was also reported that one child died and 13 others were injured. 

Students in critical condition

The accident took place at All Girls Carmel Convent School, Sector 9. Peepal tree was 250 years old. A tree about 70 feet tall naturally uprooted and fell on the students playing below. The condition of a student and a female conductor is said to be critical. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has expressed grief over the painful accident. He wished the injured children a speedy recovery.

The heritage tree was preserved by the administration of the Union Territory. Local MP Kirron Kher also tweeted the sad news. He wrote, "Many students were injured after a tree fell at Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh. My condolences to the bereaved families and I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured."

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has expressed grief over the accident. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident. In Carmel Convent School, The tree that fell was a heritage tree and is said to be about 250 years old. About the accident The Chandigarh administration has ordered an inquiry. Along with this, in other schools also, such trees will be investigated and the engineering department will conduct the survey within 2 days.
