All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM ) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has challenged Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi to contest from Hyderabad. Taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi, he said that he will now lose from Wayanad as well.
Asked about Rahul Gandhi's statement that he has come to Telangana to challenge TRS, BJP and them, Owaisi said, "I am saying that now you will lose from Wayanad too. Come, contest from Hyderabad. Your luck." Try it. You can contest from Medak too."
Earlier on Friday, Rahul Gandhi had sounded the election bugle for the Congress party with the Rythu Sangharsh Sabha for the Telangana Legislative Assembly elections to be held next year. Rahul Gandhi was on a two-day visit to Telangana on 6-7 May.
During this, Rahul Gandhi gave a clear message to the party workers and leaders in Telangana to remain united and said that indiscipline will not be tolerated. Addressing the workers and leaders of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, he said that the party ticket will be given only to those who work in the area. He said that the final decision on ticket distribution would be taken only after taking public opinion.
Gandhi told the workers, "We want to listen to everyone, but not through the media. We will listen to your complaints as per the mechanism built within the party and if anyone speaks without thinking and harms the party, he will not be forgiven.
He lauded the party leaders and workers for a successful meeting of farmers on Friday evening and said that it was only because of the collective effort and energy of all of them that this success has been achieved. Gandhi addressed Telangana Chief Minister K. Appealed to youth to join Congress to defeat Chandrashekhar Rao. He alleged that Rao destroyed the dreams of the people of the state.
The former Congress president said that Sonia Gandhi had dreamed of betterment of the people of Telangana and had given it (Telangana) statehood, though the party had suffered in the elections. Gandhi said, "But we stood together in your fight for the truth. I want to fulfill your dream of Telangana and work with the people of the state.
Gandhi said, "Don't make the mistake of sitting in Hyderabad or coming to Delhi. Work hard and reach people. It is the people who will get you tickets." He stressed that unity is paramount and party workers should not take (getting) tickets lightly. TRS is in power in Telangana, where elections are proposed in December 2023.
