Assam Flood Update: The floods caused in Assam by torrential rains have adversely affected many areas of the state.  loss of both life and property. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured on Tuesday that all possible help will be given to Assam by the Central Government.

Amit Shah tweeted and informed that he is concerned about the situation in view of heavy rains in some parts of Assam. He spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa to get the details situation and was assured of all possible help from the central government. Let us inform you that due to rains in Assam, the situation of floods and landslides has arisen. About 1.97 lakh people are affected due to floods in 20 districts of the state.

According to the report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, 51,357 people have been affected in Cachar district. This wave of flood-affected 652 villages in 46 revenue divisions and 16,645.61 hectares of crop land was submerged in the floodwaters. Two people died in Cachar district while three others, including two children, were missing in the district, officials said. The district administration has set up 55 relief camps and 12 distribution centres where 32,959 flood-affected people are taking shelter.

River flowing above danger mark

The water level of Brahmaputra river is flowing beyond the danger mark in Nimtighat in Jorhat district and Kopili river in Kampur area of Nagaon district. Normal life has been affected due to the flood situation in Kampur area of Nagaon district. Landslides have been reported from New Kunjang, Phiyangpui, Moulhoi, Namjurang, Dakshin Bagetar, Mahadev Tila, Kalibari, North Bagetar, Zion and Lodi Pangmaul villages. The railway line at Jatinga-Hrangajao and Mahur-Phiding has been blocked due to landslides. The road connecting the Maibang tunnel to Geremlambra village is also likely to be blocked.
