The death toll has now risen to 11 in the case of a boat sinking in Yamuna river in Markathana area of Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, 9 bodies were recovered 40 hours after the incident. Now two more bodies have been found. After which the total number of people who lost their lives in the accident has increased to 11.
Yesterday, the NDRF and SDRF team carried out a rescue operation in Banda district but nobody was involved. After which today the administration started the search of vehicles by laying a trap in Kishanpur border of Fatehpur, then eight dead bodies have been found.
Kishanpur Police has continued the rescue operation with the help of divers. A youth has been identified, who is a resident of Mankapur police station Ashothar, resident of Jaichand son Premchand. In identifying the remaining dead bodies, the district administration is taking further action with the help of Banda district.
It is said that this accident happened after the boat capsized while crossing the Yamuna river in Marka town. There were about three dozen people on the boat during the accident. Out of which 13 people were rescued and saved on Thursday itself. While 17 people were said to be missing.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath also condoled this incident . He tweeted and wrote, "The loss of life in the boat accident in Yamuna river under Banda district is extremely sad and unfortunate. My condolences are with the bereaved families. The concerned officials should immediately reach the spot and conduct rescue and relief work and proper treatment of the injured." Instructions have been given to get it done."
