Bank Strike: There is a nationwide strike of banks on 28 and 29 March on the call of the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA).
Employees of most banks except the State Bank of India (SBI) are involved in the nationwide strike. Due to this, work in other banks including Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Bank of Baroda (BOB) will be affected for two days.
The employees of the main post office of Roorkee sat on a dharna outside the office raising slogans. He said that the Government of India wants to end the services of banks, post offices etc. Employees are being harassed continuously.
He demanded implementation of five days working week in post offices, closure of NPS and implementation of the old pension scheme, implementation of other recommendations of Kamlesh Chandra Committee constituted for GDS employees. Along with this raised various demands including increasing the capacity of Finacle and SAP servers, banning the decentralization of post offices.
Due to the closure of the post office, many customers had to return disappointed. Satish Sharma, Jitendra Sharma, Ghanshyam, Anil Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, Arun Kumar Bisht, Ramesh Pal etc. were present on this occasion. At the same time, all the banks including Union Bank, Central Bank also remained closed. Because of which the customers returned. However, unions affiliated to the State Bank of India have abstained from the strike.
Vinay Sharma, Joint Secretary, Uttaranchal Bank Employees Union, Dehradun said that to make the nationwide strike successful for various demands including non-privatization of banks, restoration of old pension by discontinuing new pension, regularizing contract workers, stopping outsourcing. Bank employees are on strike. Along with this, a sit-in protest will be held outside the PNB located at Eslehal Chowk in protest against the policies of the government.
SBI branches will remain open, the mixed effect will be seen in BOB
SBI personnel will not participate in the strike. In such a situation, all branches of SBI are open and work is going on in them as usual. At the same time, the mixed effect of strike can be seen in BOB.
In fact, some employees unions in BoB are affiliated with AIBEA and AIBOA and some are affiliated with the United Forum of Bank Unions. United Forum of Bank Unions is not involved in the strike. In such a situation, the officers-employees associated with it can continue working in the bank.
