Shreya Ghoshal turns a year older today and is unquestionably Bollywood’s reigning queen of playback singing. Shreya has been captivating us with her passionate and melodic voice for more than two decades. Her songs have appeared in a variety of movies, from popular Bollywood films to indie films. In Hindi movies as well as those in other regional languages in the nation, her voice power is unrivaled. The multilingual, four-time National Film Award-winning soprano has recorded over 20 studio albums.

Bairi Piya (2002)

In the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Sanjay Leela Bhansali discovered Shreya Ghoshal's talent. Ghoshal performed ‘Bairi Piya’ as a duet with Udit Narayan, from Ismail Darbar composition with lyrics by Nusrat Badr. The song went on to become a chart-topper, earning Shreya her first National Film Award.


Teri Ore (2008)

Singh Is Kinng, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, was a huge box office success, thanks in part to the film’s music. Shreya Ghoshal and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan performed the Pritam-composed romantic track ‘Teri Ore’, with lyrics by Mayur Puri. The song became extremely popular, and it helped Ghoshal win another Filmfare Award.


Manva Laage (2014)

The romantic number ‘Manva laage’ from the film ‘Happy New Year’ features Deepika Padukone. Arijit Singh and Shreya sang the song, written by the talented duo Vishal-Shekhar. The song, written by Irshad Kamil, received positive feedback from critics. At the 61st Filmfare Awards, this song was nominated for Best Playback Singer once more.


Agar Tum Mil Jao (2005)

Shreya Ghoshal’s ‘Agar tum mil jao’ received worldwide acclaim and was one of the most celebrated songs of 2005. Anu Malik composed this song for the film ‘Zeher’, which starred Emraan Hashmi and Shamita Shetty. The song was nominated for best song of the year at several award ceremonies.


Dola re dola (2002) 

‘Dola re Dola’ was composed by Ismail Darbar for the Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, and Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Devdas’, which was sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shreya Ghoshal, and KK. Not only the song, but also the choreography, with Madhuri and Aishwarya dancing to the beats, became very popular.


Jaadu Hai Nasha (2003)

One of the most sensual Bollywood songs is ‘Jaadu hai nasha’ from the movie ‘Jism’. The song that pits the seductive Bipasha Basu against John Abraham gives this swoon-worthy track some much-needed energy. The song’s lyrics were written by Neelesh Misra and was composed by M. M. Kreem. Shreya got a Filmfare for Best Female Playback Singer for the song.


Sun Raha Hai (2013)

Two alternative renditions of the song ‘Sunn Raha Hai’ were made, one in an electric rock style and the other in a semi-classical form. Composer Ankit Tiwari received much praise for using Shreya Ghoshal’s voice in the song’s female version. The song is from the musical movie ‘Aashiqui 2’, which stars Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, and it has received numerous nominations.


Deewani Mastani (2015)

In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’, the song ‘Deewani Mastani’ was written especially for Deepika’s Mastani persona. Her on-screen persona was taken into consideration when writing the song’s lyrics. One of the best songs from the movie, thanks to the lyrics and upbeat beats.
