Bharat Bandh: Know about what's affected and what's not

In order to mark the first anniversary of the enforcement of the three farm laws, Samyukt Kisan Morcha(SKM), an umbrella body of around 40 farmer unions, has called for Bharat Bandh on September 27,2021(i.e. today) from 6am in morning to 4pm in evening. SKM,in a statement, said, “It was on September 27, 2020 that President Shri Ram Nath Kovind assented to and brought into force the three anti-farmer black laws last year. Tomorrow, there will be a total Bharat Bandh observed around the country from 6 AM to 4 PM."

The Bharat Bandh has been successful in gaining support of 14 trade unions, more than 500 farmer organizations, political parties,six state governments and different sections of society.The SKM has assured that Bandh will be administered in a peaceful and voluntary manner, and has issued detail guidelines for the same.

Institutions to be closed during Bharat Bandh

According to the SKM, all government and private offices, schools and other educational institutions,shops, industries and commercial establishments, as well as public events and functions, will remain shut during the Bharat Bandh

Exemptions

All emergency and essential services and institutions, such as, hospitals,medical stores, relief and rescue work, and people attending to personal and health emergencies will be exempted.

Transport

Public and Private transport will not be allowed to function. However emergency services such as ambulance and fire, will be allowed to ply on roads. The bus service of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation(OSRTC) will be halted for the day.
