Bihar Hooch Tragedy: 12 people died due to spurious liquor in Saran, many in critical condition

Once again the havoc of spurious liquor has been seen in Bihar which has banned liquor. In Saran district, 12 people have died within 24 hours after drinking spurious liquor. However, so far six bodies have reached Sadar Hospital for postmortem. While treatment of more than half a dozen people is going on in Sadar Hospital and PMCH.

Police gives information

The police gave this information on Wednesday. He said that the incident took place in Isuapur police station area. Police said that some people consumed liquor at a local shop till late night on Tuesday and fell ill after going home. After this five people died while two others were admitted to the hospital. He said that investigation has been started in the matter.

BJP protests against the incident

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs protested outside the assembly over the incident. He blamed the "nexus" of the police and bootleggers for the deaths in the incident. Former Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad said, “We have always supported the ban on liquor, even when the proposal for a ban was presented in our opposition. But its implementation was a complete failure." Nitish Kumar's government banned the sale and consumption of liquor in Bihar in April 2016.
