Bomb Cyclone wreaks havoc in US, 34 people died so far| Winter Storm in America

In the United States, 34 people have lost their lives due to the snow storm at different places. The storm has blanketed most parts of the country with snow and strong winds. More people are feared to be killed by this storm. Many people are trapped inside the house due to snowfall and power supply has been affected in the homes of lakhs of people. 

What is Bomb cyclone

A bomb cyclone is a rapidly intensifying storm. It is formed when atmospheric pressure drops very rapidly, a drop of at least 24 millibars within 24 hours. Meteorologists compared the sudden drop in pressure to the bursting of a bomb, terms such as 'bombogenesis' were used to describe the process of storm formation, and thus the name - bomb cyclone. 

Officials warn about the number of deaths

Officials there have warned that the number of deaths could increase. Emergency service crews are having an uphill battle to find people in need of rescue help. They have to search for dead bodies in vehicles and under snow for hours. A senior official said power was not expected to return to some people's homes until Tuesday due to frozen power substations. While a frozen substation is said to have been buried under 18 feet of snow.
