Voting is underway for by- elections to seven assembly seats in six states . The symbolic contest in this election is between the BJP and the regional parties. Officials said the Election Commission has geared up for massive polling, including deployment of 3,366 state police personnel, 15 companies of central paramilitary forces have been grounded in Munugode and webcast has been arranged at all polling stations. . The seven seats where voting is taking place are – Adampur seat of Haryana, Mokama and Gopalganj seat of Bihar, Munigode seat of Telangana, Gola Gokarnath seat of Uttar Pradesh, Andheri seat of Maharashtra and Dhamnagar seat of Odisha. The results of these seats will be declared on November 6.
An Election Commission official said 33.58 per cent votes have been cast in Gola Gokarnath till 1 pm. Voting is taking place peacefully. Votes will be held till 6 pm. In this by-election, more than 3.90 lakh voters will decide the electoral fate of a total of seven candidates.
The Samajwadi Party has alleged that the people of BJP have occupied the polling booths of village Lalahpur, Madanpur, Laxmanjati of Gola Gokarnath assembly constituency. SP voters, booth in-charges and agents have been driven away. By tweeting, the Election Commission has appealed to the Election Commission to take cognizance of the matter and ensure fair voting.
