Captain Amarinder Singh confirms the formation of new party; name and symbol to be announced soon

Former Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh held Press Conference at Hyatt Regency in Chandigarh today. The announcement of press conference was made by Captain’s media advisor Raveen Thukral. Captain made important announcements in the press conference.

Former CM presented the report card of all the work he had done in his tenure of 4.5 years. He said, "This is our manifesto of when I took over. This is our manifesto of what we have achieved."

He also took a jibe at Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the new Home Minister of Punjab and said, “On the other hand, I was Punjab Home Minister for 9.5 years. Somebody who has been the Home Minister for 1 month seems to say that he knows more than me...Nobody wants a disturbed Punjab. We must understand we have been through very difficult times in Punjab.”

Captain Amarinder Singh also confirmed that he’ll form a new party ahead of Assembly elections of 2022. The name and symbol of party however,he informed, isn’t decided yet and will be revealed soon.He also said that the new party will contest on all  117 seats of the assembly.

Captain also said that the party will win against Navjot Singh Sidhu, no matter where he contests from. "As far as Sidhu is concerned, wherever he fights from we will fight him," said the Former CM.

On Navjot Singh Sidhu’s tweet about Captain Amarinder Singh, the former CM commented, “I never spoke to Amit Shah or Dhindsa over this, but I will. I want to be strong to fight Congress, SAD, AAP. I will talk to them, we will put up a united front to defeat these."

On the matter of contentious farm laws, Captain Amarinder Singh said that 25-30 people along with him will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah soon to talk about it.

Earlier, Punjab’s Deputy CM and Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh had said that if Capt. Amarinder Singh forms a new party, he would make a “big mistake” and that his face in Punjab will be “scarred”.

Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu also attacked the former CM and said, “Amarinder Singh never came out of his farmhouse in the last four and a half years, and now, he suddenly talks about floating a party.”

Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Punjab last month and later also announced his resignation from Congress Party.
