After a lot of consideration, a big decision has been taken by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regarding class 10th and 12th board exams. CBSE will conduct the board exams according to the old pattern from the next academic session 2022-23. Means CBSE will conduct class 10th and 12th board exams only once in a year instead of conducting it in two terms. According to the information given by the board, the examinations will be conducted on the basis of the revised 30 percent reduced syllabus.
Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia is very unhappy with this decision of the board. He said a year-end exam should not be a high-stakes exam. However, according to the system which is applicable in this session, evaluation will be done twice a year and on the basis of that the final result will be announced. The rest of the CBSE board will not implement this system from the next session.
This decision has been taken on the basis of the approval received from the schools. It has been proposed in the National Policy on Education that the students of the Board should be allowed to appear in the Board Examination on two occasions in an academic session. The National Education Policy proposes to allow one to appear in the main examination and once in the improvement examination.
In the current session, objective questions are asked to the students in the question paper of the Term-1 exam, whereas in the question paper of the Term-2 exam, subjective questions are asked to the students.
CBSE Board has conducted the examinations for the academic session 2021-22 in two terms. The decision to conduct the examination in two terms by the board was taken during the academic session 2020-21, at which time the examinations had to be canceled due to the second wave of Covid-19. In this session 2021-22, Term-1 board examinations were conducted in November-December last year. At the same time, Term-2 examinations have started from 26 April.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has made all preparations to start CBSE 10th, 12th Term 2 examination from 26 April. Necessary instructions have been given to all the schools to follow the corona protocol and hygiene-safety. A big announcement can be made on the CBSE exam due to corona virus infection and rapid spread. The top officials of the board and the Union Education Ministry are keeping a close watch on the whole matter.
