Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has recently accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of tampering with the image of Lord Shri Ram by the BJP government over the years. CM Baghel said that the image of Ram is such that he always wants the welfare of the state and peace in the state. But the BJP government has changed the image of Ram for the last many years.
Chief Minister Baghel said that “Lord Ram is a part of Indian culture, he is both in corporeal and formless form. We Indians have accepted Lord Ram in many forms, in which Ram of Kabir, Ram of Tulsi and sometimes Ram of Shabri are also seen. Lord Ram resides in the soul of every Indian. Lord Rama is in different forms for everyone. Farmers, tribals, intellectuals and devotees see him differently.”
The Chief Minister also took a dig at the BJP, saying that their idea of nationalism was imported. CM said, "Who met Mussolini? He was BS Munje... Drums, caps, everything is imported. There is no room for dissent in his model of nationalism. Our nationalism is different. From our beginnings It is rooted in traditions, developed by the likes of Shankaracharya, Kabir, Guru Nanak, Ramakrishna Paramhansa."
He also said, "Mahatma Gandhi had also seen Ram. His last words were 'Hey Ram' and he used to recite Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram. That Ram who was 'Maryada Purushottam', who was the symbol of love in the hearts of every devotee. Living as a symbol, he is being made a fighter Rambo by the BJP and RSS setting the agenda today (they are turning him into Rambo).”
He further said “Hanuman is a symbol of humility, devotion and wisdom but today his aggressive posters are visible. If you look at the old pictures of Hanuman, the Lord was very handsome, was in devotional meditation posture and today, an angry and aggressive form is being projected. The way he is setting up the mindset of the society. First done with Ram and now we are with Hanuman.”
