Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will stage a two-day rally in Kolkata beginning March 29 to protest the central government’s alleged partisanship towards West Bengal. The dharna will last till March 30 at night. The dharna will take place at the Ambedkar Murti, Delhi.
According to Mamta, the Center has not approved funds for the MGNREGA project or other projects the Housing and Roads Departments are working on. “West Bengal is the only state that has not received anything from the Centre,” she told the media at the Dumdum airport before departing on a three-day visit to Odisha. “It has not been fair to us. This year’s Union budget included nothing for our state.”
Mamata said, “I have only one thing to say, even in this budget, Bengal has not been given a single paisa for 100 days of work. Not even a single penny was given by the Center for the housing scheme.” She further said that the money for the 95 lakh houses that were constructed earlier is pending. Roads are being built but the money has not been received yet. The state government is building roads with its own money. Even in this budget, Bengal has not been given a single penny for 100 days of work. Not even a single penny was given by the Center for the housing scheme.”
