The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACAG) has confirmed the first case in India of Omicron subvariant BA.4 detected in Hyderabad. This strain of coronavirus is similar to the BA.2 subvariant. The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) said that the BA.4 Omicron variant was identified in a sample of a COVID positive person in Hyderabad. This person's sample was taken on May 9.

Alert in Europe because of BA 4 subvariant

On May 12, the European Agency for Monitoring of Infectious Diseases declared the BA4 and BA5 Omicron variants as 'Variants of Concern'. The ECDPC has recognized that these variants may have serious implications and impact on the epidemic situation in the region. The BA4 and BA5 Omicron variants first surfaced in South Africa in January and February.

After this, due to these two variants, there was a new wave of corona in European countries like South Africa, America, UK and Germany-Denmark. According to the study report, both the BA4 and BA5 variants are completely different from the original version of Omicron. For this reason, they have the ability to avoid immunity created from earlier infections.

Symptoms in BA 4 variant

Its major symptoms include headache and runny nose. However, in addition to these symptoms, the problem of sore throat is more common in the BA.4 variant. However, according to new information coming about the corona virus in new research, Omicron and Delta variants keep hovering around us for a long time. It can infect us as soon as the body becomes weak.

Health experts are emphasising the need for a third dose of corona vaccine to neutralise BA.2 and DeltaCron. Health officials believe that the effect of the BA4 variant may be visible in the next few weeks and only then can its comparison with other variants of Omicron (such as BA2) or severity be assessed.
