Kargil war: Point 5140 named ‘Gun Hill’

Point 5140 in Drass in Kargil has been renamed "Gun Hill" to honour the supreme sacrifice of the gunners in "Operation Vijay," which led to the triumph of the Indian armed forces.The Indian Army declared victory over Pakistani forces on the frigid heights of Kargil in Ladakh on July 26, 1999, marking the effective conclusion of "Operation Vijay."

CWG 2022: Mirabai Chanu Wins India's Gold

Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu brought home the gold in the women's 49kg weightlifting final, giving India its first weightlifting gold of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This was India's third medal on Day 2 of the ongoing competition after Sanket Sargar (silver) and Gururaja (bronze) produced earlier in the day. The 27-year-old hoisted a total of 201kg to earn the yellow metal. Later on, after returning with a silver in the women's 55kg event, Bindyarani Devi won India's fourth medal.
