Kapil Sibal Quits Congress
Senior Congress leader and a prominent face of the G-23 group of the dissenting leaders, Kapil Sibal, on Wednesday said that he resigned from the grand old party on May 16 adding that he is no longer a senior Congress leader. "I resigned from the Congress on May 16 and am no longer a senior Congress leader now," he said.
United Arab Emirates Reports First Monkeypox Case
The United Arab Emirates announced a case of monkeypox on Tuesday. The case was found in a 29-year-old woman arriving from West Africa. She is receiving medical treatment, the Ministry of Health and Prevention notified.
India imposed restrictions on sugar exports from June 1
The government placed restrictions on sugar exports today to prevent hike in local prices. "Export of sugar (raw, refined and white sugar) is placed under restricted category from June 1, 2022 onwards," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus gets second term as WHO Director-General
WHO Member States today re-elected Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to serve a second five-year term as Director-General of the world’s leading public health agency. He was first elected in 2017. His re-election was confirmed during the 75th World Health Assembly in Geneva. He was the sole candidate.
