Pakistan PM picks Lt Gen Asim Munir as new army chief 

Lt Gen Asim Munir was selected by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday to succeed General Qamar Javed Bajwa as COAS of the armed forces. 61-year-old Bajwa will retire on November 29 following a three-year extension. He had given up on trying to get another extension. The Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee had chosen Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza to serve in that capacity (CJCSC). Additionally, both officers received promotions to four-star generals. 

Tamil Nadu’s Arittapatti notified Tamil Nadu’s ‘First Biodiversity Heritage Site’

Tamil Nadu has designated Arittapatti in Madurai as its first Biodiversity Heritage Site. The numerous plant and animal species that support the State will gain from the development. With 250 different bird species, including the Laggar Falcon, Shaheen Falcon, and Bonelli's Eagle, as well as other animals like pangolins, pythons, and slender lorises, Arittapatti Village is renowned for having a rich biological and historical significance. 

Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 Commenced in the State

The biggest tourism festival in Manipur, the Sangai Festival, gets underway. This year, after the COVID-19 pandemic struck the festival the previous two years, the festival—named after the State Animal that can only be found in Manipur—was organised in a grand manner.
