Women to head CRPF's Bihar sector and RAF

In a historic move, two female officers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been promoted to the rank of inspector general (IG) for the first time since their induction into the force began in 1987. Seema Dhundia will lead the CRPF's Bihar sector, while Annie Abraham, who was recently promoted to IG, will lead the CRPF's Rapid Action Force (RAF). Since its inception in 1992, the RAF has been led by a female officer.

Elaben Bhatt, Gandhian, SEWA founder, and women’s empowerment activist, passed away

Elaben Bhatt, 89, a noted Gandhian, leading women's empowerment activist, and renowned founder of the Self-Employed Women's Association (SEWA), died on Wednesday after a brief illness in an Ahmedabad hospital.
She received numerous national and international awards, including the Padma Bhushan, the Ramon Magsaysay Award, the Indira Gandhi Peace Prize, and many others, and was widely recognised as a woman leader who established many institutions and pioneered work in organising the informal sector for self-employment and women's empowerment not only in India but throughout South Asia.

Operation Vigilant Storm Underway in South Korea

Operation Vigilant Storm is a four-day training exercise involving hundreds of aircraft that aims to improve combat readiness and interoperability between the United States and its allies. The Air Force and some of its Asian Pacific allies. The exercise, which is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 4, has already sparked criticism from North Korea's Foreign Ministry.
