Cyclone Asani Update Today: Cyclone Asani will show its effect in the coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha today. According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds with a speed of 90 to 125 kmph can occur in the coastal areas of Bengal and Odisha.
Also, there is a warning by IMD of heavy rainfall in many places. The effect of the storm will also remain in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. From May 11 to 13, it will rain along with strong winds. At the same time, the Airport Authority of Chennai said that due to Cyclone Asani, 10 flights including Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur and Mumbai have been cancelled from Chennai airport. The passengers were informed about this only yesterday.
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain may occur in West Bengal, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, South Assam, Andaman and Nicobar Islands today. Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy rain is likely over Odisha and Andhra Pradesh Coasts. Light to moderate rain may occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, South Karnataka and Rayalaseema. Light rain is possible over Western Himalayas.

The Meteorological Center Bhubaneswar said that the cyclonic storm Asani moved in a west-northwest direction with a speed of 12 kmph during the last 6 hours. It is currently about 590 km south-west of Puri and about 510 km south-west of Gopalpur, Odisha.
Cyclone Asani will continue to move in northwest direction till the night of May 10. Thereafter, it will turn northeastwards from Odisha coast towards northwest Bay of Bengal. It is likely to weaken in the next 24 hours.

The Asani cyclone, which lifted from the southeast Bay of Bengal, is said to reach the Odisha coast in the next 24 hours.
