Cyclone Shaheen: Low pressure area of Cyclone Gulab to re-intensify into Cyclone Shaheen; will affect Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Cyclone Gulab is inactive now, but things doesn’t seem getting better with water as Cyclone Shaheen is going to become active now. The cyclone developing in Arabian sea is likely to affect the coastal areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Derivation of the name

The name Shaheen has been given by Qatar,one of the nations responsible for naming the tropical cyclones that develop in the Indian Ocean. 

Formation of Cyclone Shaheen

The low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal can reach the Gujarat coast of Arabian Sea. According to the weather department, the pressure will reintensify into a depression in next 12 hours to convert into Cyclone Shaheen. According to the weather department of Gujarat, for the next few days, wind speed is expected to be 60-90km/h

Affects of Cyclone Shaheen

Along with few areas of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Konkan region will experience heavy rainfall for the next few days. Teams of NDRF and SDRF have been appointed in 17 districts of Gujarat. IMD’s senior official has advised the fishermen to maintain distance from the sea for the next 3-4 days. According to IMD, for the next 48 hours, the depression is likely to strengthen and will gradually move towards the west and will distance itself from the Indian coast, after which the weather conditions will improve in Indian coastal areas. According to the predictions, many areas in Deccan and South India will experience moderate to heavy rainfall. The cyclone is ready to cause troubles for the Indian people, for which alert has already been issued by the Weather department.
