The Supreme Court has taken a major step in the direction of ending gender discrimination in the army while giving an important order to give women the right to examination in the National Defense Academy (NDA). In a petition, the Supreme Court was sought to allow women candidates to appear in the NDA exam. It was said in the petition that the opportunity of admission to the National Defense Academy was being denied to the deserving and interested women candidates on the basis of gender. Till now there was no way for women candidates to take the National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Exams and get admission. Now she will also be able to join NDA after being found eligible.
The Haryana government has banned the use of the word Gorakhdhanda. It will no longer be used in any context in the state. The Gorakhnath community had raised objections to the use of the word after meeting Chief Minister Manohar Lal. On 18 August 2021, on the demand of the community, the government has issued an order in this regard.
