Delhi Yamuna Flood Alert:

The heavy rainfall in Uttrakhand and Himachal Pradesh has caused huge destruction there, and now, the excess water from these hills is flowing towards the plains. And considering this, the water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi has also increased, as of now, the level of water in Delhi’s Yamuna river has now crossed the alarming level i.e., 204.50 meters, and is above 205 meters.

But, it is expected to reach an alarming level within the next 24 hours. The  Union Minister Satyendra Jain stated that all this depends upon how much water is released from the Hathini Kund towards the plains.

Satyendra also mentioned that considering the rising level of Yamuna’s water, the Delhi government has already prepared itself, and all the sewers and drainages across the capital were properly cleaned.

As stated by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, one lakh 60 thousand cusecs of water have been released from Hathni Kund barrage in the last 24 hours, which is the highest this year. After this, one lakh three thousand 245 cusecs of water has been released at 6 am on Thursday. When this water reaches Delhi in the next two days, there is a possibility of water filling the lower parts of Yamuna.
