Differences in BJP and JDU regarding Common Civil Code in Bihar

Janata Dal United, which is involved with BJP in NDA, has said that there is a government of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Bihar and there is no question of implementing Uniform Civil Code at any cost during his session. Earlier, during the Veer Kunwar Singh Vijay Utsav celebrations in Jagdishpur, Bhojpur, former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Modi said that Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in BJP ruled states.

Upendra Kushwaha on Uniform Civil Code

Upendra Kushwaha, the Legislative Councilor cum President of the party said that “Uniform Civil Code will not apply in Bihar. People of different religions live in the country. The arrangement that is in place now is fine”. In an informal conversation with reporters on Sunday, the JDU leader said that “there is an NDA government in Bihar. Everyone knows that JDU's opinion is different from BJP's on many issues. As long as Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister of Bihar, the question of implementing the Common Civil Code in the state does not arise”. On the question of what is the problem with the Common Civil Code, the JDU leader said that what is the need of it.

Talks of Uniform Civil Code in Bihar

Some time ago, Union Minister and BJP MP from Begusarai Giriraj Singh had talked about implementing Uniform Citizenship Code in Bihar. He said that such a law is needed keeping in mind the fact that our population density is already higher than we can handle. He had said that this is not a political issue but a social issue.
