Diwali in USA: Joe Biden celebrated Diwali at the White House, America engulfed in celebration

In the midst of the growing dominance of Indians in America, this time Diwali was celebrated in a grand style in the White House too. US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden celebrated Diwali with Indian-Americans at their official residence, the White House. During this, a large number of Indian-Americans also reached with American officials.

Kamala Harris addressed the White House

US Vice President Kamala Harris addresses during a reception to celebrate Diwali at the White House. Tonight, together with over a billion people around the world, we will light a lamp and celebrate the victory of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and light over darkness, he said. Vice President Kamala Harris said that like many cultures, Diwali reminds us to see the light in the world in each other and in ourselves. It also reminds us that we should fight for peace, justice, no matter what force continues to spread hatred and division.

Joe Biden also gives statement

Joe Biden said that the tradition of celebrating Diwali in the White House was started by the administration of George Bush. Since then this is the biggest event ever. The event was held in the East Room, which was attended by over 200 Indian American people. The East Room has been witness to various historical events related to Indo-US relations, including the signing of the nuclear deal in 2008 and the press conference between then US President Barack Obama and then Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
