Remote Voting Machine: The Election Commission today held a meeting with the presidents and general secretaries of all national parties. The remote voting machine was discussed in this meeting. The Election Commission of India showed the remote electronic voting machine prototype for overseas voters to the representatives of political parties. Election Commission is working to provide remote voting facilities to migrant voters.
According to the Election Commission, the prototype multi-constituency remote electronic voting machine (RVM) will enable migrant voters to vote from remote polling stations. The Election Commission pointed out that the inability of domestic migrants to vote is one of the major reasons for the low turnout percentage. He said that the overseas voters would not need to travel to their home district to exercise their franchise.
Election Commission has invited all recognized eight national and 57 regional political parties to attend the meeting. The working of the multiple-election prototype remote EVM will be demonstrated in the meeting. Members of the Technical Expert Committee of the Election Commission will also be present during this demonstration.
