The battle of supremacy between gangsters Anandpal Singh and Raju Thehat lasted for almost two decades. After Anandpal's encounter, Raju Thehat became dominant in Shekhawati. Anandpal and Bishnoi gang are said to be behind the murder of Thehat, popularly known as 'Sikar Boss', but this enmity started when Raju Thehat killed his own friend's brother-in-law. Raju Thehat entered the world of crime in 1995. At that time the BJP's Bhairon Singh government was in trouble. President's rule was applicable in Rajasthan. SK College of Sikar was the center of politics of Shekhawati. Gopal Phogavat, an ABVP activist from the same college, was involved in the liquor business. Under his protection, Raju Thehat also started doing illegal business of liquor.
