Ashok Gehlot has apologised to Sonia Gandhi. Along with the post of Congress President, Gehlot also talked about leaving the decision of Rajasthan Chief Minister to Sonia Gandhi and also declared himself out of the race for the post of President. But this only gave a clean chit to Gehlot and not the three of his loyalists against whom the show cause notice was issued.

Ashok Gehlot’s statement

While interacting with the media after meeting Sonia Gandhi, CM Gehlot said, "I had a complete conversation with Sonia Gandhi and I have apologised to Sonia Gandhi. I am a loyal soldier of the party for the last fifty years, for the third time with the blessings of Sonia Gandhi." One line resolution is our tradition. However, unfortunately such a situation arose that the resolution was not passed. It was my moral responsibility but despite being CM I could not get the resolution passed. This incident in Rajasthan gave this message That I wanted to become the CM. I apologised to the Congress President for this incident."

Ashok Gehlot further said, "Now I will not contest elections in this environment with moral responsibility. I met Rahul Gandhi in Kochi and requested him to contest for Congress President. When he did not accept, I said that I will contest the election. I will fight but now after this incident I have decided not to contest the elections."
