Ghazipur Landfill Fire: Fire could not be extinguished even on the fourth day- Watch Video

The fire that broke out on Monday morning on the mountain of garbage located in Ghazipur area of East Delhi has not been extinguished for the fourth consecutive day i.e. even on Thursday. Due to its smoke, people of UP and Delhi living within a radius of several kilometers are having trouble breathing.

Directive to impose fine of Rs 50 lakh on EDMC in Ghazipur fire case

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday asked the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to impose a fine of Rs 50 lakh on the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) for the fire at the Ghazipur landfill site. He also directed to take action against the responsible officers. During the press conference at Delhi Secretariat, he said that we had asked DPCC to submit a report regarding this fire incident. DPCC has submitted the report which points towards the negligence of the Municipal Corporation. The report explains the slow pace of biomining of old waste at the site. There are only 21 trammels being used instead of 25.
