Guru Purnima 2022: According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Guru Purnima is celebrated on the full moon date of the month of Ashadha. It falls in the month of July-August on the English calendar. This year, Guru Purnima is falling on Wednesday, the 13th of July 2022. The day of Guru Purnima is celebrated as knowing the importance of 'Guru' or teacher. That is why it is also called Vyas Purnima. According to Shiv Purana, on this day in the 18th Dwapar, Ved Vyas Ji, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born. Ved Vyas had also composed eighteen Puranas and texts including Mahabharata. Of these texts, Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran is considered to be the largest.
