Many workers were buried after a part of the building collapsed in Gurugram, adjacent to the capital Delhi. One of them has been pulled out safely, while the work of evacuating all the other workers trapped under the debris is in progress. The rescued worker has been admitted to a nearby hospital.
Police said the incident happened around 7.20 am on Monday when the workers were demolishing the first floor of the building.Rescue work was started as soon as the accident was reported.Initially four laborers were trapped under the debris, out of which two were rescued.
Police said prima facie it appeared that the building was in a dilapidated condition whose condition had worsened due to rain.Fire officials said that three fire tenders have been sent to the spot.Police said that more than 20 laborers were present at the spot at the time of the accident.
It is being told that this building was very old as well as dilapidated, so it was decided to demolish it as soon as possible. In this episode, this accident happened on Monday morning. Lalit Kumar (Fire Officer, Gurugram) says that as per preliminary information, 2-3 laborers are feared trapped due to the collapse of the building which was being demolished. The rescue operation is on and one worker has been evacuated.
