Har Ghar Dastak: Government launches door-to-door Covid-19 vaccination campaign from the month of November

Har Ghar Dastak:

Union Health Minister Manshukh Mandaviya on Wednesday stated that the government is going to launch a mega vaccination campaign against the Covid-19 virus from next month onwards. This mega vaccination campaign from November will witness the door-to-door vaccination for the citizens, known as “Har Ghar Dastak”.

The Union Health Minister made the announcement after holding a meeting with representatives from states and Union Territories and his counterparts to discuss this next step of the vaccination drive in the country.

Adding further, Mandaviya said that 77% of the eligible population has been already vaccinated against Covid-19 with the first dose, while other 32% people are fully vaccinated. However, over 10 crore people across the country haven’t been administered the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and urged these people to complete their course.

The health minister also urged the officials at the meeting to focus on such beneficiaries who are already overdue for their Covid-19 second dose.

As per the government data, more than 3.92 crore beneficiaries are over six weeks overdue for their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and around 1.57 crore people are up to four or six weeks late for their second dose of Covishield or Covaxin vaccines.

The 11 states and Union Territories have completed administering the two Covid-19 doses to over half of their eligible beneficiaries including Sikkim, Goa, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Daman and Diu, and Mizoram.
