Home sales created a record, demand increased by 36% in 9 years!- Watch Video

On Tuesday, Knight Frank said housing sales rose 34 per cent to a 9-year high and gross office leasing grew 36 per cent during 2022 across eight major cities across India. In eight large cities, home sales jumped 34% to 3,12,666 units in 2022, whereas office space leasing increased 36% to 51.6 million square feet. 

Despite rising house loan interest rates and higher home costs, according to Knight Frank India CMD Shishir Baijal, housing sales have increased in 2022.

House Sales in major cities

• Mumbai led residential sales in 2022 with 85,169 units, up 35 per cent from the previous year, as per the data. 

• Bengaluru had a 40% increase in sales to 53,363 units, while Delhi-NCR saw a 67% increase to 58,460 units. 

• In Pune, the number of housing units sold jumped 17% to 43,410. Hyderabad saw a 28% increase in residential property sales last year, reaching 31,046 units. 

• Sales increased by 19% in Chennai to 14,248 units, while they increased by 58.% in Ahmedabad to 14,062 units. The only city to experience a 10% decrease to 12,909 units was Kolkata.
