The theme for Human Rights Day 2022 is “Stand Up for Human Rights”.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is made up of a preamble and 30 articles that outline a wide variety of fundamental freedoms and rights to which we all have a right. It protects our rights regardless of our gender, ethnicity, nationality, location of residence, religion, language, or any other status.
The date was chosen to commemorate the implementation and notification of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), one of the first international declarations of human rights, by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. At the 317th General Assembly Plenary Meeting on December 4, 1950, the General Assembly declared that day to be Human Rights Day and passed resolution 423. (V).
Large political gatherings and seminars, as well as cultural activities focusing on human rights problems, are held to commemorate the day. The Nobel Peace Prize and the United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights are also presented on this day. Special events pertaining to the human rights sector are organised by various governmental and non-governmental organisations.
In order to raise awareness of human rights, official political gatherings, meetings, exhibitions, cultural events, and other activities are organised to mark Human Rights Day. To increase the effectiveness and success of this event, a certain theme is chosen.
