Weather Update: IMD issues heat wave alert; Get ready for scorching summers from February only

Day temperatures have started rising in February itself and the heat is likely to intensify in early March. According to the Meteorological Department, the havoc of summer will start in the beginning of March itself. 


Western Disturbance creating rise in temperature

The department has explained the reason for early summers as, “The weather in North West India is mainly controlled by Western Disturbance. Since no Western Disturbance has been active in the region since January 29, the temperature has increased significantly.” 


Rain predictions in some regions

IMD has issued heat wave alerts in February, with the north-east region predicted to experience rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of change in weather conditions in the rest of the country.


Possibility of El Nino

The current temperature in most parts of the country is usually seen in mid-March. There is also a possibility of El Nino coming this year, which will only increase the heat.
