IND vs NZ Test: Shreyas Iyer scores century on Test Debut

Shreyas Iyer batter beautifully in the first innings of first match of the two matches test series being played between India and New Zealand . He scored century on his test debut, thus making the Kanpur test match memorable.

He registered more than one record in this test match. Shreyad Iyer is the 16th Indian batsman to score century on his test debut. He returned to pavilion on the second day of the test match after scoring 105 runs. 

Interestingly, Last three players to score century on their debut hail from Mumbai. These include Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer. 

Shreyas Iyer is the third Indian batsman to score a century on debut against New Zealand. Earlier, Surinder Amarnath and AG Kripal Singh had made this record in the year 1976 and 1955 respectively.

He is the 13th Indian batsman to score century in the first innings of the debut match and the 10th Indian Batsman to score century while playing the debut match in India. 

He is the only second Indian batsman to score century while debuting in Kanpur.  Earlier, Gundapa Vishwanath achieved this milestone in the year 1969.
