The Indian cricket team has to enter its first T20 series after the Indian Premier League from today i.e. June 9. Just a day before the series, the team's preparations suffered a setback when KL Rahul, who was named captain against South Africa, was out with an injury. The BCCI had informed on Wednesday evening that captain and spinner Kuldeep Yadav will not be part of the series due to injury.

In the last 7 months, he was out of the team 4 times due to injury and was not a part of Team India in 4 series. This has raised concerns for the selectors and the BCCI. Due to repeated injuries, he has become less reliable both as a player and as a captain. In such a situation, Rishabh Pant was given the command of the T20 series.

BCCI announces Rishabh Pant as captain

BCCI shared a video of Rishabh Pant on its official Twitter account. In which Rishabh Pant is speaking on being given the captaincy before the series against South Africa. Not only this, Rishabh Pant further said that 'I will try my best to give my best. Thank you all for supporting me in my ups and downs in my career. I see this opportunity to improve my career and I will try to do better every day.
