Jammu Kashmir: Encounter between terrorists and security forces continues in Anantnag, army cordons off the area

An encounter has started between terrorists and security forces in the Cheki Dudu area of Bijbehara in the Anantnag district. Two terrorists are feared trapped. A joint operation is being conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army. Earlier, an unexploded grenade was found in Azad Ganj of Baramulla district. It is believed that the terrorists threw this grenade to target the security forces. However, the grenade did not explode and the bomb disposal squad reached the spot and took it into custody.

Police give information

Police said that Sajjad Tantre was involved in the murder of a non-local laborer on November 13 at Rakhmomen, Bijbehara. During the investigation, Hybrid terrorist Sajjad Tantray, who was earlier an associate of the terrorist organization Lashkar and was released from PSA, disclosed that he had attacked two outside laborers at Rakhmomen, Bijbehara, Anantnag on 13/11/2022 in which both the laborers were injured. Later, the injured laborer Chhota Prasad died in the hospital on 18/11/2022. 

On the disclosure of Tantre, the police have also recovered the weapon (pistol) and vehicle used in this terrorist incident. The investigation is on to arrest more terrorist associates of this module. Police said hybrid terrorists are unlisted radicals who carry out terror attacks and often return to their regular lives without leaving a trace.
