The government is all set to rehabilitate residents of disaster-hit areas of Joshimath town in Chamoli district, bordering China, and remediate the area. After receiving the report from the team of experts, work has started on taking forward the immediate and long term works.
Declaring four wards of Joshimath as unsafe, orders have been given to vacate them immediately for the safety of life and property. Officers have been nominated to implement it. Two hotels Mount View and Malari Inn have also been closed. Along with this, work is being done by establishing coordination with various institutions.
For the treatment of landslides, renowned institutions in the country have been approached. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is monitoring the situation and taking continuous feedback from the officials. On the other hand, Secretary to Chief Minister R Meenakshi Sundaram camped in Joshimath since Sunday. Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhu and Director General of Police Ashok Kumar also visited the affected area on Sunday to take stock of the situation.
