Kailash Vijayvargiya on Kanhaiya Kumar:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has taken a jibe at Kanhaiya Kumar's decision to join the Congress. Vijayvargiya said, “If someone comes out of the gutter and falls into the drain, then I can only sympathize with him.” On his joining Congress, Kanhaiya Kumar had said that Congress is the only option to raise voice in a better way in the interest of the country.

Significantly, Kanhaiya Kumar joined the Congress on Tuesday in the presence of party leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Addressing the media at the Congress headquarters soon after the young leader joined, party general secretary KC Venugopal had said, "Kanhaiya Kumar is a symbol of the fight for freedom of expression in this country. He fought against fundamentalism as a student leader. The induction of such a dynamic personality will fill the entire Congress cadre with enthusiasm.

Intention to break political unity:

Vijayvargiya's remarks supported BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya's claim that Congress is colluding with forces that intend to break political unity in India.

Before joining Kanhaiya, Malviya had tweeted, 'On the anniversary of surgical strike, Congress will accept Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mevani of 'Bharat Tere Tukde Honge' fame. This cannot be a mere coincidence.

Here Vijayvargiya also questioned the recent political developments in West Bengal including the upcoming by-election for the Bhabnipur constituency by journalists in Indore. To this Vijayvargiya said, "It is not possible to have fair elections there, not even one percent".
