Karnal Kisan Mahapanchayat: Farmers end protest after mutual stance obtained, SDM to be sent on leave

Karnal Kisan Mahapanchayat:

The farmers' Mahapanchayat at the mini secretariat of Karnal ended on the fifth day. Negotiations between farmers’ leaders and administrative officials were successful. Both sides came forward and agreed on a mutual stance. At the same time, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni said that before the meeting, talks had been held with senior leaders of the Samyut Kisan Morcha. The demand of farmers has been accepted and now the farmer leaders have left for Jat Dharamshala.

Farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni came among the farmers and announced the end of the protest. Earlier, in the talks held in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary Devendra Singh and other administrative officers, a bilateral agreement was reached on three demands.

It was decided that a retired judge of the High Court would investigate the lathi charge case involving Ayush Sinha, who was the SDM of Karnal at the time of Bastara episode. IAS Sinha will be on leave during the investigation to be held over a period of one month. At the same time, two people of the family of late farmer Sushil Kajal will be given jobs in a week at DC rank.

Mutual consent of both parties achieved:

The ACS said that the Haryana government will conduct a judicial inquiry into the Bastara toll case on 28th August. This inquiry will be done by the retired judge of the High Court and the investigation will be completed in a month as far as possible. During this, former SDM Ayush Sinha will be on leave. Haryana government will give jobs to two people of the family of deceased farmer Sushil Kajal at DC rate in Karnal itself. It is largely a settlement, which is agreed upon by both parties.
