A major accident has happened in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The bus carrying ITBP jawans fell into a gorge in Chandanwadi area. It is being said that many soldiers are feared dead in the accident and many security personnel are also seriously injured. Officials of security forces, army, police and administration have reached the spot. Relief work is going on. So far it has come to the fore that 7 jawans have been killed in the accident. There are 32 injured. At present, no statement has come out from ITBP. The police has only said that the seriously injured jawans have been shifted to the hospital.
This bus has fallen in the river in Frislan of Pahalgam. The jawans were deployed to guard the area for the Amarnath Yatra. The jawans were being brought back from there after the Amarnath Yatra was over. Many are feared killed in the accident. The accident was so big that the bus fell into the river about 200 feet below Chandanwadi. The bus blew up. So far, it is not clear how many soldiers have been affected in this accident.
A total of 39 jawans were in the bus in which the accident took place. In this 37 jawans were from ITBP and 2 jawans were from Jammu and Kashmir Police. This accident happened due to brake failure of the bus and these jawans were going from Chandanwadi towards Pahalgam. These were the same soldiers, whose duty was engaged in the Amarnath Yatra.
DG ITBP, SL Thosen, who was injured, said that seven of our jawans have lost their lives in the ITBP bus accident. Eight seriously injured jawans have been airlifted to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for treatment. Other jawans are being treated at a hospital in Anantnag. The condition of the rest of the jawans admitted to Anantnag Hospital is stable.
