It has been one year since the three central agricultural laws were passed. On 17th September 2020, the Narendra Modi government had passed 3 central agricultural laws, however, the farmers have been opposing these laws. Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal is observing a 'Black Day' on Friday i.e., today considering the completion of one year of the three agricultural laws being passed.
As part of the Delhi Farmers protest, a march is also being taken out to Parliament under the leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal. In view of the march, Delhi Police has barricaded many places, leading to a closure of various roads at many places. Section 144 has been imposed in New Delhi.
At the same time, the march of Akali Dal workers from Rakabganj Gurdwara to Parliament House is also being conducted. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal is also involved in this march. It is being told that in March, former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur is also attending.
It must be noted that on September 17, 2020, all three agricultural laws were passed in the Lok Sabha and, later that evening Harsimrat Kaur tendered her resignation.
Security has been tightened at the Delhi Sirhaul border of Gurugram due to the gherao of the Parliament House, Delhi by the farmers. Due to the barricading, there was a severe traffic jam on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway for almost three hours.
New Delhi District DCP Deepak Yadav said that some people have gathered here for the protest being organized by Shiromani Akali Dal. We are in talks with their leaders and have clearly informed them that there is no permission granted to hold protests.
There is a traffic jam on ITO and Minto Road.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has taken a big decision in view of the performance of the farmers. Accordingly, Pandit Shri Ram Sharma and Bahadurgarh Metro stations have been closed with immediate effect.
Due to the barricading, there has been a situation of jam in many areas including ITO, Pragati Maidan.
