Kisan Andolan:

Once again, 32 farmers' organizations of Punjab have come together regarding agricultural laws. These farmers' organizations held meetings in Chandigarh with various political parties of the state except the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Farmer leaders have not invited the Bharatiya Janata Party to this meeting organized while representatives of leaders of all other political parties attended this meeting.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha held a meeting to request these parties not to run political campaigns at various places in Punjab before the official announcement of the Punjab Assembly elections because it is likely to affect their ongoing movement.

Punjab Kisan Union President Ruldu Singh Mansa said, “This is the biggest movement in the country and everyone is supporting us. We are getting support internationally as well. So, we will definitely reach a conclusion in the end.”

As per reports, the meeting took place at the People's Convention Center in Chandigarh and started around 11 AM. Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday said the increase in the minimum support price for rabi crops announced by the Center today is "a joke with the farmers". Tikait wrote on Twitter, "MSP announced for Rabi crops is a joke with farmers. Inflation is increasing constantly, but the rate of increase in MSP for farmers is very low in comparison. This increase is less than last year. The government should tell us which formula it has used?”

It must be noted that since November last year, farmers' organizations have been protesting on the borders of Delhi against the three new agricultural laws. Several rounds of discussions have been held between the farmers and the central government, but no result has been obtained so far.
