Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Delegation of Congress Leaders led by Rahul Gandhi met President of India; demanded the suspension of Ajay Mishra

The politics on Lakhimpur Kheri doesn’t seem like diminishing  anytime soon. The Indian National Congress and other opposition parties are not leaving a single chance to target the government on this matter. In recent development, The Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi led the delegation of Congress leaders to visit the President of India to discuss the Lakhimpur violence case and get their demands fulfilled.

The delegation included some key leaders of the party. Besides Rahul Gandhi the delegation included Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi demanded the suspension of the Union Home Minister for State Ajay Kumar Mishra, the father of accused Ashish Mishra. He also informed that the families of victim just want justice for the deceased and punishment for the guilty.

Priyanka Gandhi on Lakhimpur Kheri

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi also supported the MP’s stance and said that President of India Ram Nath Kovind has assured them that he will discuss the issue with the central government. SSe also added that the demand of deferral of Minister isn’t just made by his political party, but by all the farmers and the families of victims and hence, the government shall fulfill them.

Lakhimpur Kheri case

On October 3,2021 a violent clash broke out at Lakhimpur Kheri after an SUV car crashed into farmers and took the lives of four of them. This was followed by a violent outburst during which farmers took the lives of four other people, which included BJP workers and a mediaperson. It is alleged that Ashish Mishra, son of MOS(home affairs) Ajay Mishra, was responsible for the incident as SUV belonged to him.

Ashish Mishra was served the notice by Crime Branch twice to appear before the Crime Branch for investigation, following which he was arrested on October 9 and then sent to police custody till October 15. The investigation is under process and it will be interesting to see who turns out to be the actually guilty of the violence.
