Akhilesh Yadav detained by UP Police for starting a sit-in protest in relation to the Lakhimpur Kheri incident

Amidst all the uproar after the Lakhimpur incident, Samajwadi Chief Akhilesh Yadav has been taken into custody outside his residence where he started a sit-in protest, after being stopped from going to Lakhimpur Kheri where 8 people died in violence yesterday.

It must be noted that several other ministers including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have also been restrained from visiting Lakhimpur Kheri amidst the ongoing tussle.

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav was sitting on a protest outside his residence on Vikramaditya Marg to protest against the fact of being restricted from going to Lakhimpur Kheri in Lucknow. While SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, sitting on a dharna outside his house, was adamant on the insistence of going to Lakhimpur Kheri.

Along with Akhilesh Yadav, the party's Chief National General Secretary Professor Ram Gopal Yadav was also protesting. A large number of police forces have been deployed outside Ahilesh's house while he is taken into custody. Before starting the protest, Akhilesh Yadav said that it is better to sit on the road than to sit in the house under house arrest.
